Overview
If you’re looking for a business laptop that features beautiful consumer-grade style, you must have an eye on the new HP EliteBook Folio G1. The EliteBook Folio is ideal for on-the-go workers who demand excellent performance, more than an entire workday of battery life and a strong chassis that can withstand regular portation (based on some of the promises claimed by HP). Starting at $999 ($1,429 as examined), the 12-inch EliteBook is incredibly light and thin. Measuring 11.5 x 8.23 x 0.47 inches, the HP EliteBook Folio G1 is thinner but is taller and wider than the Apple MacBook 12-inch (11.04 x 7.74 x 0.14-0.52 inches). That’s because of the similar aluminum enclosure that wraps around the entire notebook. Weighing at just 2.14 pounds, HP’s laptop is just a bit heavier than the 2.04-pound MacBook
When you open the EliteBook Folio, you’ll notice a beautiful diamond trim that covers the edges of the upper and lower base of the laptop. This is a subtle finish that adds a nice bit of unique aspect to an already stylish laptop. Also, HP used an impressive single piece aluminum hinge that glitters when the light hits it. The lovely hinge is sturdy and flexible enough to open and close smoothly (and only when you want it to). With robust speakers, fanless cooling and an infrared camera for face logins, the HP EliteBook Folio G1 get nearly everything right. However, its battery life could be better.
