Amazon to Introduce Ads on Prime Video in 2024

Amazon Prime Video will join other streaming services in rolling out ads and introducing a higher-priced ad-free tier in 2024. The tech giant plans to introduce ads in the US, the UK, Germany, and Canada in early 2024, followed by other countries later in the year. The ad-free tier will cost an additional $2.99 per month in the US, on top of the current Prime subscription price of $14.99 per month or $139 per year. Netflix and Walt Disney have also implemented similar measures to boost ad revenue. Amazon already shows ads on live event content, such as NFL’s Thursday Night Football, even for subscribers with the ad-free plan. The company aims to have fewer ads than traditional TV and other streaming providers and does not plan to raise prices for the current Prime membership plan in 2024.
