Breaking News: Catalyst Partners with Brampton for Innovation

Technology hub Catalyst has signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with the city of Brampton in Canada in a move that will strengthen the innovative ecosystems and support entrepreneurs, innovators, and companies in both locations.

Brampton, part of the Greater Toronto Area, is one of the fastest-growing cities in Canada, fueled by innovation in manufacturing, logistics, food production, and life sciences sectors.

Following a visit by a Northern Ireland delegation to MaRS Discovery District and Communitech Waterloo in Canada, led by Catalyst’s director of strategic business development Adrian Johnston, the MOU was signed to enhance opportunities for collaboration between Catalyst and Brampton.

Catalyst runs multiple innovation programs and is committed to creating opportunities for all in society. The MOU outlines cooperative activities such as collaborative research and development in cybersecurity, innovation initiatives, and a start-up exchange program focusing on digital technologies and cybersecurity.

Adrian Johnston from Catalyst expressed excitement about the partnership, highlighting Brampton’s booming innovation sector and Mayor Patrick Brown’s ambitious economic innovation strategy.

Mayor Patrick Brown emphasized the importance of innovation and entrepreneurship in driving economies forward and unlocking potential in the community. The partnership aims to strengthen entrepreneurial ecosystems and inspire cross-border innovation.

The MOU was signed following a visit to Canada facilitated by Invest Northern Ireland’s Americas office, including time at MaRS, North America’s largest urban innovation hub.
