Lenovo has made our favorite business laptop even better by enhancing its speakers, giving it a sleek carbon fiber structure, and adding some useful security features, including a webcam shutter and an IR camera. You’ll even get distant field microphones in case you need a digital assistant. What’s more, you get the strong performance and fast SSD. This means that if you are working on large spreadsheets with a lot of calculations, the X1 Carbon will process them with aplomb.

The 16-inch MacBook Pro is your type if you’ve been waiting for Apple to make a good keyboard. The Magic Keyboard on this premium laptop swallows up the Butterfly mechanism in favor of the scissor switches, and the result is a much more comfortable typing experience. You’ll also get a crisp and sharp 16-inch display with slimmer edges, powerful performance from an available Intel’s Core i9 CPU, and robust AMD’s Radeon 5300M or 5500M graphics.

You can also configure the laptop with up to 64GB RAM and 8TB storage if you want to splurge. The 11-hours of battery life is another advantage of this laptop that doesn’t fall into the runtimes of its competitors. The 16-inch MacBook Pro is expensive, and Apple still doesn’t have full-size USB ports, but overall this is one of the best business laptops for creative professionals.

Lenovo took a chance with the ThinkPad X1 Yoga, the first metal ThinkPad, and it paid off. While we still love the distinctive matte-black carbon fiber found on most ThinkPads, the aluminum and magnesium ThinkPad X1 Yoga is an excellent change of pace. Not only does it have a sleek design, but this convertible 2-in-1 shows off a clear display and offers a best-in-class keyboard and long battery life. You’ll also get lots of extra goodies, like a built-in stylus slot and a webcam cover. There is simply no better business convertible than the ThinkPad X1 Yoga, apart from HP’s beautiful new Elite Dragonfly.

The design hasn’t changed at all, but the Surface Pro 7 now has a USB-C port for charging and connecting peripherals. Microsoft still sells the comfortable Alcantara Type Cover and super-responsive Surface Pen, making it easy to draw or take notes on the tablet’s vibrant and bright 12.3-inch display. Overall, this is one of the best business laptops right now.

The 2-in-1 notebook has quickly helped me through a full day, even with the brightness of the screen. 16 hours and 42 minutes. That’s how long the ExpertBook B9450 lasted on our battery test, surfing the web continuously over Wi-Fi with 150 nits. Nearly 17 hours. Can you believe that? Because I can’t. No other laptop has lasted that long. It’s incredible for so many reasons. Sure, that’s super long. But what if I told you that the longest laptop ever weighs only 2.2 pounds. Or that it has a 10th generation Intel U Series processor in it? Or that the midnight blue chassis is one of the finest we’ve ever seen. There are so many reasons to love the ExpertBook B9450 and even place it above the ThinkPad X1 Carbon. Asus still has a few things to fix – like the frustrating keyboard – but it’s on the right track.

When it comes to the best business laptops, the HP Elite Dragonfly is at the top of our list with its combination of portability and power. It’s also one of the finest business laptops we’ve seen in a long time, with a thin and light design – complete with incredible speakers, a sublime keyboard, and the optional 550 nits 4K display – that’s hard to handle. This hybrid gets our coveted five-star rating, which already says a lot because we don’t radiate it lightly. And, have we mentioned that it also has impressive battery life.

The MacBook Pro 13-inch 2020 solves the biggest problem with Apple’s other outstanding 13-inch laptop: the keyboard. By dropping the shallow keys of the older Butterfly keyboard in favor of the fabulous Magic Keyboard, the latest MacBook Pro 13-inch delivers the comfortable and responsive typing experience we’ve longed for on Apple’s flagship laptop. However, a great new keyboard isn’t all the new MacBook 2020 has.

The new 13-inch model gets a nice power boost with a 10th generation Core i7 processor, which, combined with its available 3733MHz RAM, blazing-fast SSD, and Intel Iris Plus graphics, gives reliable performance for multitasking and photo and video editing. The 2560 x 1600 on the MacBook Pro is still as beautiful as ever, and the laptop lasts almost 11 hours. Apple has doubled the price for RAM on the entry-level model, and you pay for the 10th generation power, but overall the latest 13-inch MacBook Pro is an outstanding laptop.

It’s hard to improve near perfection, but the XPS 13 2020 manages to make the best laptop even better – and it’s so good that the Dell XPS 13 won our title for the best laptop. Dell’s latest flagship PC features Intel’s latest 10th generation processors, which make multitasking between apps and even doing some light gaming a breeze. The laptop’s Infinity Edge screen now has a screen ratio of 91.5% without getting in the way of your favorite movies and TV shows.

Some smaller improvements make the XPS 13 2020 better than its predecessors. The laptop’s comfortable keyboard is now edge-to-edge, and the touchpad is 17% larger, making it much easier to work with documents for long periods without getting cramped. With a few minor material changes, the beautiful aluminum design is even more attractive to use and hold, and the Dell XPS 13 2020 quickly catches the eye at the top of its class.

Things to consider before buying the best business laptops

Dual-core processors, especially Intel Core i3 / i5 / i7 series APUs or AMD A-series, are the norm in corporate PCs, even though four-core processors such as the 9th generation Intel Core i5 (“Coffee Lake ”) The / i7s and AMD Pro series, or even six-core drives, such as the latest Intel” Whiskey Lake “CPUs, are available for the most demanding business applications. Power-saving processors, such as the Intel Core m5 / m7, are replacing the old Intel Atom line in tablets and other ultra-portable devices.

And note that starting with the 10th generation Intel chip line, ultra-low-power Y-series processors can be marketed alongside higher-performance chips; Look for the Y in the chip name to be sure. A note about the different generations of Intel. If your company still uses software that requires Windows 7 Pro, specifically look for laptops with a sixth-generation Intel Core processor. Laptops with 7th and 8th generation Intel Core processors require Windows 10 or higher.

Research at least 8 GB of RAM if you buy a PC for a level and file worker, but use 8 GB or 16 GB if possible. (Graphic artists and spreadsheets will need at least 8 GB.) The right amount of memory lets you keep multiple browser programs, windows, and tabs open at the same time, and perform multimedia work (such as editing photos) faster.

With companies using video, PowerPoint multimedia slides, and multi-megapixel photos in team meetings, a spacious hard drive is a good idea. A 500 GB to 1 TB hard drive is the right balance between economy and space. Although they are heavier and have less storage capacity, solid-state drives (SSDs) have no rotating parts and are therefore better suited for road licking. Even systems with SSDs start and run applications faster.

It’s hard to find less than 128 GB of capacity for an SSD on Windows or MacBook laptops today, but increasing it to 256 GB or 512 GB is a good idea if you can. Optical drives are now less critical for consumer PCs, given the proliferation of streaming media and because machines are shrinking, not even drives are found in major versions of today’s laptops.

But you may need one to store copies of projects for your customers, read the occasional CD or DVD that was sent to you by a vendor or customer, or retrieve files or records stored on discs when they were still in vogue for many years. Alternatively, an outdoor unit can help a lot in this situation; It can be a smarter move if you know you haven’t finished mixing the discs yet.

Most corporate PCs have integrated graphics from Intel, AMD, or Nvidia. Integrated graphics are good for corporate laptops, since you don’t play 3D games on a work computer, right? Most professionals who require discrete graphics use them for specialized tasks, such as GPU acceleration in Photoshop, creating high definition videos in Adobe Premiere Pro, or 3D visualization used in architectural drawings and CAD software. Mobile-class workstation laptops often have some discrete graphics, both for their 3D capabilities and multi-monitor driving.

LCD screens with a resolution of 1,366 to 768 are still available if you are looking to save money on your laptop, but your eyes will be grateful to upgrade to at least one 1,920 to 1,080 monitor with In-Plane Switching (IPS Technology)). This combination will ensure that you have enough space to display many columns of numbers in Excel or that you have multiple windows on the screen at the same time and that your colleagues can see them from any angle as they are grouped around the table.

For graphic or scientific work, a 3K or 4K screen offers even more space, as well as clearer text and more detailed images.

A big battery is your best friend for a long flight or a long journey. Commercial laptops are usually equipped with more battery options. Some business-class notebooks have two to three different battery types (four-, six-, and nine-cell options). The more “cells” you buy, the longer the battery will last. A large battery adds a little weight, but being able to go without dawn until sunset is worth the weight gain. Some ultraportable laptops have non-removable sealed batteries. Look for a laptop with removable batteries if you want more than six to eight hours of battery life.

Final Words

While most laptops sold are now being used for basic business responsibilities, only some of these machines are designed for office use from scratch. In our list of Best business laptops, we pay close attention to specifications and productivity-driven features. We look at the design and quality of input devices (such as the touchpad or other hands, along with the keyboard) and the bright display to ensure all of these features help maximize user power.
