Moto G4 Plus review: One of the best mid-range Smartphone

Lenovo has finally launched its much awaited Smartphone Moto G4 and Moto G4 Plus in India on Tuesday 17 May 2016. However, Moto G4 is yet me be set on sale as the company has not revealed the price of Moto G4. Mean while, Moto G4 Plus is currently trending in the market as it is the first Moto Smartphone that is launched by Lenovo brand.

Design and Display

Make and made of Moto G4 Plus is some what identical to previous devices of Moto G series but is a bit thinner than previous versions. The device is 7.9 mm thick and is no longer water resistant. Moto G4 Plus fits nicely in the hand but won’t be handy while using with one hand.

Moto G4 Plus has trademark Moto logo below the camera. The volume and power button are placed at the right side of the device with micro USB charging slot at the bottom. The body dimensions of Moto G4 Plus is 153 * 76.6 * 9.8 mm that weighs 155 grams that which is very impressive for a 5.5 inch smartphone.

Moto G4 Plus features 5.5-inch (1080 p resolution) full HD display protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 3 which is considered to be a much needed upgrade by the company. The display looks very good in low light and viewing angles are also quite good as compared to previous versions.

Software

Moto G4 Plus runs on Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow OS which gives the devices the access to new features of the Android OS like Google Now, Doze battery saving technology and renewed permissions to apps.

Moto G4 Plus also has new features like Moto Display and Moto Voice. With Moto Display, the users can not only see the incoming notifications but also can access them with a swipe.

Hardware

Moto G4 Plus is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 617 processor. The device comes in two variants with 2 GB and 3 GB RAM respectively. The 2 GB RAM variant features 16 GB internal memory where as the 3 GB RAM variant features 32 GB internal memory. Both the variants has a micro-SD slot that can support up to 128 GB card.

Moto G4 Plus is no more a water resistant device, instead nano-coating is done on the top of the device.

Camera

Lenovo has upgraded the camera of Moto G Series by featuring a 16 mega-pixel main camera in Moto G4 Plus. As per the Indian Express, Motorola’s Director of Product Management, Allison Yi has claimed that the camera of Moto G4 Plus is better than that of iPhone 6s Plus.

The 16 mega-pixel camera of Moto G4 Plus features Phase Detection and Laser auto-focus with dual LED flash. According to the tests by Indian Expressthe photos clicked were sharp and the focus did worked quickly. The rear camera of the device also features a professional mode that gives the user the control over the aperture and shutter settings.

As for the front facing camera, there is a good news for Moto G fans as Moto G4 Plus comes with a 5 mega-pixel camera with a much wider 84° angle lens that covers more area as compared to previous Moto G devices.

Battery

Moto G series has never featured a huge battery in any of its device, however every Moto G device came with great battery optimization that helps the device to run all day long. Moto 4 Plus is backed with a 3,000 mAh non-removable battery. The device also supports Turbo Charging and comes with a Turbo Charger.

Moto G4 Plus features Finger Print Scanner which can be seen as a square shaped home button at the bottom of the device. The device also features new Moto Camera option which opens the camera with the flick of your wrist. Moto G4 Plus also features Active Noise Cancellation with dedicated mic.

The price of Moto G4 Plus starts from Rs 13,499 and Rs 14,999 respectively. The price for 2 GB RAM and 16 GB ROM variant is Rs 13,499 and the price for 3 GB RAM and 32 GB ROM variant is Rs 14,999. The device is currently available exclusively on Amazon India.

Verdict

As per the specifications, performance and price, Moto G series is considered to be the best Budget Benchmark Smartphone series and this also stays true for the the new Moto G4 Plus.

The Moto G4 Plus is offering a true android experience to the customers with out disturbing there budget. The company had once again produced a budget Smartphone that could be and surely is a great option for those people who are looking for a fully loaded, highly featured smartphone under Rs 15,000.
