The 17.3-inch Lenovo ThinkPad P70 is available with a sixth-generation Core i7 or Xeon CPU, a brilliant 4K (3,840 x 2,160) IPS display, up to 64GB of ECC RAM, and two SSDs plus a hard drive. It’s a bear to carry (7.5 pounds), but it blasts through multiple applications and datasets faster than many desktop workstations we’ve examined.
Beginning at $1,862 ($3,459 as examined), the Lenovo ThinkPad P70 is a heavyweight in each sense of the phrase, tipping the scale at 7.6 pounds and providing an Intel Xeon CPU, a 4K panel with a color calibrator, Nvidia’s Quadro professional graphics, and a blazing-fast PCIe SSD storage. Regardless of some 4K video playback issues, the ThinkPad P70 stands out from the crowd with a best-in-class keyboard and touchpad, a sturdy chassis and extremely accurate color.
