Xiaomi Mi 5X and MIUI 9 is now official in China. The brand new mid-range smartphone from Xiaomi is a slightly tweaked version of the last years Xiaomi Mi 5 smartphone and highlights a dual rear camera setup, an octa-core Snapdragon 625 SoC (Mi 5 featured an Octa-Core processor), and improved audio quality, among other things. The Xiaomi Mi 5X sports an all metal unibody design with rounded edges and anti-fingerprint coating. The dual rear camera setup borrows loads of design cues from the Apple iPhone 7 Plus, together with the antenna bands pushed to the sides.
Xiaomi Mi 5X – Price
The Xiaomi Mi 5X is priced at CNY 1,499 (roughly US $220 or INR 14,200) and will probably be available in Black, Gold and Pink color options. Currently, the company has released just one RAM and storage variant at the launch event – 4GB RAM/ 64GB storage. However, we do expect the company to release the information regarding other variants of the smartphone soon.

Xiaomi Mi 5X – Specifications
The Xiaomi Mi 5X is a dual-SIM (Nano) smartphone that features a 5.5-inch Full-HD (1080 x 1920 pixels resolution) LTPS display and will be running on the latest MIUI 9 based on Android 7.0 Nougat OS. The smartphone is powered by a 64-bit Snapdragon 625 octa-core processor clocked at up to 2GHz and 4GB RAM.
The Xiaomi Mi 5X comes with a dual rear camera (12-megapixel wide-angle with 1.25-micron pixel sensor and a f/2.2 aperture, and a 12-megapixel telephoto with 1-micron pixel sensor and a f/2.6 aperture) setup, much like the Xiaomi Mi 6. The device also features a Portrait Mode for bokeh effects, just like the Apple iPhone 7 Plus and the OnePlus 5. As for the selfies, there is a 5-megapixel front camera with real-time beautification.

As discussed above, the Xiaomi Mi 5X comes with 64 GB internal storage that can be expanded further up to 128GB via micro-SD card. Connectivity options on the smartphone include 4G VoLTE, dual-band Wi-Fi 802.11ac, USB Type-C port, GPS/ A-GPS, and 3.5mm headphone jack. Sensors on the smartphone include an accelerometer, gyroscope, ambient light sensor, infrared, proximity sensor, and magnetometer.
The Xiaomi Mi 5X comes with a high-quality audio output with DHS Audio Calibration Algorithm technology and a standalone audio amplifier for enhanced quality through headphones. The Xiaomi Mi 5X smartphone is backed by a 3,080 mAh battery and measures 155.4 x 75.8 x 7.3mm and weighs 165 grams.
Xiaomi Mi 5X – Availability
The smartphone will on sale in China at 10 am on August 1, and registrations for the first sale are already open. However, there is still no information whether the smartphone will be released outside the home country or not.
