Xiaomi Hey+ Smart Band Launched With OLED Display and NFC Support

Xiaomi has unveiled a new smart band named Hey+ in China. A little over two months ago, the Chinese manufacturer launched the new Mi Band 3, which brought several upgrades for the previous generation Mi Band 2. The new Mi Band model had added new features, such as a capacitive touchscreen panel, more battery life, better water resistance, Bluetooth 4.2 and more. Now Xiaomi has introduced the Hey + with some of those functions. The main highlights of the Xiaomi Hey+ are NFC support and an OLED screen.

Interestingly, the Xiaomi Hey + in some respects has better specifications than the Mi Band 3. Unlike the Mi Band 3 with a capacitive OLED screen of 0.78 inches with a resolution of 128×80 pixels, the Xiaomi Mi Band 3 a more massive, 0.95-inch screen with almost twice the resolution (240×120 pixels). The Xiaomi Hey + weighs 19.7 grams and is made of thermoplastic elastometer. It comes with a 120mAh battery that is the same as the Mi Band 3.

There is Bluetooth 4.2 LE connectivity which makes the Xiaomi Mi Hey + compatible with most Android and iOS devices. Xiaomi also has NFC support for the Hey + to make it easier for users to connect the new device to their smartphones. Unlike the Mi Band 3, the NFC function is not optional in Hey +. The NFC support also helps the wearable as a transport card in China.

The Xiaomi Hey + is designed for sports activities and can follow your swimming, running and walking activity. It also has a heart rate (PPG) sensor. With the MiFit app, you can activate the Hey + to send information about your heart rate to a smartphone. Also, the Xiaomi Hey + comes with a caller ID function that can be used to reject calls directly from the band. There is also an accelerometer that helps to monitor sleep.

In the Xiaomi Hey + you can see up to 10 calls and up to 10 messages on display at a time. Each message can include a total of 300 Chinese characters. The company challenges that the battery life of the Hey+ is around 18 days with average use. With Bluetooth 4.2 you can connect the Hey+ with a smartphone and with the Home Automation system from Xiaomi. For connectivity, you have to link it with the Mijia app.

The Xiaomi Hey+ is priced at CNY 229 (approximately $34) and can be purchased via the Xiaomi YouPin site from September 20 in China.
