Syracuse man shot, killed: A Syracuse man was shot and killed Sunday in a flurry of gunfire that also left a 5-year-old girl with a minor injury, police said. The 26-year-old man killed was struck multiple times in the shooting on Dablon Court, in the Pioneer Homes housing development.

CNY mother, son charged in Jan. 6 Pelosi laptop theft: A Watertown mother and son are charged with helping to steal a laptop from U.S. House Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s office during the Jan. 6 insurrection at the U.S. Capitol. Federal agents also seized a sawed-off shotgun during their investigation. Rafael Rondon, 23, and Maryann Mooney-Rondon, 55, are already known nationally for a couple of bizarre reasons.

Syracuse University agrees to pay $3.7M to settle lawsuit: Syracuse University agreed Friday to pay $3.7 million to settle a class-action lawsuit filed by five female faculty members who claimed the school’s pay and promotion policies discriminated against women. The proposed settlement would mean most full-time women faculty working during much of the last decade could be eligible for more compensation.

Rough weekend for the Orange: It was a tough weekend for the Syracuse football team. On Saturday, the Orange lost a heartbreaker to Florida State, falling 33-30 on a field goal in the final seconds. Then, on Sunday, wide receiver Taj Harris, who was in the middle of a climb up the school’s receiving record books, said that he is entering his name into the NCAA transfer portal.
