The new call UI was noticed by WABetaInfo, who also released a screenshot comparing the old and new WhatsApp calls interfaces. The picture depicts the iOS interface, and the tracker verifies that the Android app will be redesigned as well.
WhatsApp is notorious for concurrently testing numerous features within its app, and a recent one reveals that we may soon be receiving a new voice call UI that looks more modern and includes new components. Aside from that, we’ve heard indications that WhatsApp is working on features like hiding last seen for certain contacts, generating bespoke stickers, and more.
The redesign under development will be implemented to make the Call UI more compact and modern, organizing the available space. In addition, the new redesign will be designed to look elegant, especially while placing group voice calls.
As for other features under development, WhatsApp might soon allow users to create custom stickers. At present, the app only allows users to send stickers using packs provided by the platform or through third-party apps.
Other WhatsApp features in development
Furthermore, WhatsApp is working on another feature called Communities. The feature extends WhatsApp’s group’s feature, where group admins have more control over other groups in WhatsApp. The admin of a WhatsApp Community is said to have more control than a group admin.
Lastly, we have also seen the chat app working on the ability to let you hide your last seen status from specific contacts on your contacts list. However, users must note that if you disable “last seen” for someone, you won’t be able to see their “last seen” either. As of now, Whatsapp allows you to hide your last seen from everyone or display it only to your contacts.
