“To date, we’ve juggled future-facing work and priorities with continued upkeep of Halo’s Xbox 360 legacy services. Maintaining these legacy services today requires significant time and resources which directly impacts the studio’s ability to support projects like Halo: The Master Chief Collection and Halo Infinite.” The vast majority of players will have migrated over to the Master Chief Collection at this point, but if you’re still enjoying the games on Xbox 360, or you’re eager to pick up any online-based achievements you might have missed, you’ve only got a couple of weeks left to take advantage. Time to get that dusty Xbox 360 out of the attic!
The classic Xbox 360 Halo games will be sunsetting their online services in just a few weeks, on January 13th, 2022. We’ve covered this a couple of times here at Pure Xbox, but the deadline is approaching quickly. Fortunately, the Master Chief Collection is unaffected by this, so you can continue to play Halo 3 and Halo 4 on Xbox One, Series X, and Series S with that collection. Also, even the Xbox 360 versions will keep sections of their servers alive – see the table below for a complete list of all the changes.
Digital sales have also now been discontinued for the Xbox 360 versions of these games. What are your favourite memories of playing these Halo titles on Xbox 360? Let us know in the comments.
