Toyota says it reported Thai bribery probe to U.S. SEC and DoJ

News: Toyota says it reported Thai bribery probe to U.S. SEC and DoJ.

(Reuters) – Toyota Motor Corp announced Thursday that it has reported potential bribery law violations involving a subsidiary in Thailand to the US Securities and Exchange Commission and the US Department of Justice (DoJ).

Toyota notified the authorities of the possible violations in April 2020, adding that it was cooperating with their investigation.

“The investigation could lead to the imposition of civil or criminal penalties, fines or other sanctions or to litigation by the DOJ or the SEC,” said the Japanese automaker in a registration application.

The company was unable to predict the scope, duration, or outcome of the investigation at the time, Toyota said.
