Xiaomi is a company that tends to offer really well-specced phones for reasonable price tags, so this is their forte. It remains to be seen what phone will break the ice, though.
In its mid-range Android phones, Xiaomi reportedly intends to supercharge the displays. The company aims to equip its mid-range smartphones with LTPO panels that can operate at 1Hz. Of course, this will decrease power usage. These displays have a dynamic refresh rate range of 1Hz to the maximum they provide, which is typically 120Hz. Almost all LTPO panels that we have seen are capable of 120Hz. A well-known tipster named Digital Chat Station is the source of this information. Such a display appears to be being tested by Xiaomi in one of their mid-range handsets. This display includes DC dimming, a 120Hz refresh rate, and a 1Hz minimum refresh rate.
LTPO displays have been around for quite some time now, and they keep evolving. We also don’t know when will the first mid-range Xiaomi smartphone with such a display see the light of day, nor how much will it cost.
