This off-season Chris Paul is LeBron James' eyeball

Tech Highlights:

  • Moves are expected to shuffle up the roster but how big of moves and how the Lakers work it financially are the questions that don’t have answers yet.

  • Once the Los Angeles Lakers were eliminated in the first round of the playoffs, everyone knew they weren’t just going to sit back and relax this offseason.

Now, according to The Undefeated, LeBron James and the Lakers could target in on Suns point guard and LBJ’s close friend, Chris Paul.

For Paul to join forces with James for the first time in their careers, it would likely take a sign-and-trade with the Suns. The most the over-the-cap Lakers can offer Paul without a sign-and-trade is a $9.5 million taxpayer midlevel exception. The attraction of chasing his first championship with James, Anthony Davis and the Lakers could be an appealing option for Paul to ponder. Keep in mind that Paul, a former LA Clippers star, still lives in Los Angeles with his wife and two kids.

According to sources, LeBron James and the Los Angeles Lakers have been on the hunt for veteran point guard, and Paul is on the list.

After the Game 6 loss in the NBA Finals to the Bucks which marked a title for Milwaukee and the end of the season, CP3 didn’t entertain or deep dive into any questions about his future.

CP3 has a player option he can exercise this summer and even if he chooses to go the free agency route, it seems likely he would still go back to the Suns instead of the Lakers. But if the goal is to win a title this late in his career when he still doesn’t have a ring, there’s a case to be made that LA would offer a better opportunity to capture just that.
