  • Qualcomm has announced and detailed its Snapdragon 7+ Gen 2 mobile platform this week. The platform itself is a combination of Kryo CPU, Adreno GPU, Snapdragon X62 5G modem RF system and a host of other technologies. Simply put, Qualcomm says this is the most powerful Snapdragon 7 series ever released.

Speaking of streaming, the updated modem offers 5G download speeds of up to 4.4Gbps. and 5G/4G Dual Sim Dual Active support when using two SIM cards at the same time. Mobile phones using this platform should also offer a better photography experience. According to Qualcomm documentation, the 18-bit Qualcomm Spectra Triple ISP (Image Signal Processor) can capture 4,000x more data than a 14-bit ISP for extreme dynamic range photos and videos. In addition, users can capture brighter and clearer shots in dark environments with Mega Lowlight, which blends the best aspects of 30 frames into one brilliant result.

It doesn’t sound too shabby for someone who doesn’t buy a phone with an 8-series chipset.

It has not yet been confirmed which phones will receive the platform, but Qualcomm has said that OEMs such as Realme and Redmi will soon release phones based on the platform.
