The 35-year-old woman reportedly died on Monday after being hacked by her husband in a rented house in Bedakham, Kasalagod district.
Police arrested 40-year-old Ashokan on suspicion of murdering his wife Usha von Perladukkam in Bedacam. According to police, Ashokhan was arrested near Kasalagod Station. The incident is said to have happened on Monday morning. The incident came to light when a friend of the library was looking for him at home that morning. They were planning a pilgrimage to Sabarimala. But when Ashokhan did not attend the prayer, they went to his house and noticed that it was locked. Suspecting something was wrong, they decided to open the house. It was only to find his wife’s body on a banana leaf. Shortly thereafter, they called the police, who arrived at the scene and shared information with other police and railroad police stations in the district. He was finally arrested by the Kasalagod Railroad Police. 4,444 senior officials and forensic teams visited the site.
