Mobile phone owners have been plagued by a non-stop stream of bizarre badly-spelled texts, initially claiming you have a voicemail and then that you have a parcel. They all included a link which downloaded an app onto Android phones that could hijack all your personal details. But the latest version of the scam is the most sophisticated yet – and experts fear many could fall for it. Scamwatch has received more than 13,000 complaints about the texts since the hacking campaign (pictured) first began at the start of August

‘Scammers are pretending to be from companies such as Amazon or eBay and claiming large purchases have been made on the victim’s credit card,’ added Ms Rickard.
