Technically, this isn’t confirmed for consoles just yet, but developer Expansive Worlds says they will follow the main PC release. The game looks seriously chill in the trailer embedded above, however – you head out into the wilderness with your trusty fishing rod by your side, and see what you can catch. “Ride the open waters and explore a vast, atmospheric environment in search of the perfect fishing spot.”
The Hunter: Call of the Wild is widely considered to be one of the most relaxing console games available. If you ignore the hunting part, it’s a lovely sandbox where you can spend hours hiking. Fishing appears to be a natural choice for a spiritual successor, so here it is in all its glory: Call of the Wild: The Angler.
According to the press release, you’ll be able to play solo, or in online co-op with support for up to 12 players. If you’ll pardon the pun, we can definitely see this catching on; obviously the hunting aspect of the previous release was never going to appeal to everyone, whereas fishing is generally less controversial overall. We’ll keep you updated with regards to a potential PlayStation release date.
