Surface Laptop 3 firmware promises better battery life

Microsoft has released a new firmware update for the Surface Laptop 3 (15 inches), which says the device will last longer with a charge. As we are the Laptop Mag, we test the update to determine the results. When we looked at the 15-inch Surface Laptop 3, we were impressed with the 8-hour battery life. After installing the firmware update, the Microsoft device took another 35 minutes, which is a good thing, as well as other adjectives that best describe a mediocre result. Let’s just “meh”.

Certainly, this is definitely better than the original time, but it is still just under 8 hours and 39 minutes, which is the average battery life of other high-end laptops. For now, the firmware update is only for models equipped with AMD. But those with the best surface laptop equipped with Intel 3 should not be left out. The March update should be available for Surface Laptop 3 and Surface Pro 7, with an Intel processor, “in the next few days,” notes MSPowerUser.

The Microsoft Surface Laptop 3 was the first model in the series available in a 15-inch iteration. The technology giant of Redmond chose AMD Ryzen processors for the consumer version and kept Intel processors for the 13.5-inch configuration and the 15-inch business model. You can click the Microsoft firmware update on the Windows Update settings page. Go to Update and security, and under Settings, click Check for updates.

Speaking of Surface Laptop 3, Microsoft plans to launch a variant of the i5 core with 16 GB of RAM and 256 GB SSD. The laptop is priced at $ 1,500 and will be available only to corporate customers in the U.S. later this year.
