“It’s strange & amazing to think back to when I was making this game in my bedroom w/ no clue if anyone would like it,” Barone wrote at the time. “Only four years ago! To everyone who has played this game, supported it, and made all of this possible: Thank you!”
Stardew Valley, an indie favourite, has sold over 20 million copies to date. According to the game’s official website, the title has sold this many units as of March 2022. According to developer Eric “ConcernedApe” Barone, 13 million of the 20 million total sales of Stardew Valley were made on PC alone. With this new milestone, Stardew Valley’s overall sales have more than quadrupled since the beginning of 2020. The title had sold 10 million copies at that time.
Stardew Valley was initially made by Barone alone and was released back in February 2016 for PC, before coming to PS4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch and mobile devices later down the line.
