The Bose QC45 come with a range of updates and improvements over the previous generation, including a refreshed design. Indeed, the QC35 series design was iconic, but it was getting a little dated.
Bose announced the QuietComfort 45 (QC45) wireless noise-cancelling headphones on August 31. The new model is designed to replace the popular QuietComfort 35 II that were released back in September 2017.

Bose also promises improved noise-cancelling performance in the QC45, simpler “Quiet” and “Aware” options for noise cancelling and transparency modes, better voice isolation for phone calls, and a longer 24-hour battery life compared to the QC35’s 20 hours.
Previous generations of Bose QC headphones weren’t especially good for phone calls in noisy places, but the company says the QC45 will be able to reject noises like coffee grinders or barking dogs from transferring through to the person you’re calling.
What’s new about the Bose QC45 headphones?
Compared to the QC35, the QC45’s noise-cancelling performance is receiving an upgrade by way of microphones inside and outside the earcups. The headphones also boast a new proprietary processor that can “sense, measure, and respond to more unwanted sounds in mid-range frequencies,” the company says, like “commuter trains, busy office spaces, and cafes.”
The QC45’s new “Quiet” and “Aware” modes aren’t especially new — they simply turn on noise cancelling or activate a transparent mode that lets you hear ambient sounds. But they offer a simpler experience than previous generations, which let users adjust the level of noise cancellation.
Bose didn’t make any claims about improved sound quality, but that was never something Bose had to fix over previous generations.
Bose QC45 price
The Bose QuietComfort 45 cost $330. That’s $20 cheaper than the QC35 II when they launched in 2017, and $50 cheaper than the ultra-premium Bose 700 headphones.

The QC45’s main competitor are Sony’s excellent WH-1000XM4 headphones, which cost $350, but can sometimes be found for less from retailers like Amazon and Best Buy. Bose QC45 release date
The Bose QuietComfort 45 are available to preorder now from Bose and Best Buy.
The headphones will be officially released on September 23. It’s not clear yet where else you’ll be able to buy the Bose QC45. We’ll update this article with more retailer options when we find out more. Should you preorder the Bose QC45?
Knowing Bose’s reputation for making excellent audio products and the company’s pedigree in noise-cancelling technology, the QC45 look like they’re shaping up to be a solid buy for shoppers who want a high-end pair of wireless headphones. Still, preordering anything before reading reviews isn’t usually a good idea.
For example, Bose’s claim of improved noise isolation for phone calls in the QC45 has yet to be tested. Companies often make similar claims, but they often fall flat. If noise isolation for phone calls is important to you, we’d wait for the reviews.
