It seems that Pikmin games simply take a long time to make, okay? Shigeru Miyamoto, the head of Nintendo, claimed in 2015 that Pikmin 4 was “very close to completion,” but it was not. The development of Pikmin 3 took eight years, and it has now been 10 years since its debut. Of course, playing on the Wii U turned out to be a truly wonderful experience.
Pikmin 4 is scheduled to release on the Switch on July 21st, 2023, after spending almost a decade in development. During today’s Direct presentation, Nintendo released a brand-new gameplay trailer with a new Pikmin with ice abilities and a helpful dog who assists the little plant friends on their cosmic journeys.
it’s a Wii U. Wow, so much time has passed since the last Pikmin game was released. That may also account for Pikmin 4’s lengthy development period, which began at the tail end of the Wii U’s brief lifecycle but well before the Switch’s release. We’ll take it if it’s as adorable as the trailers suggest it is.
