The No. 12/11 Providence College men’s hockey team came from a 3-0 hole to overcome Vermont 4-3 on Friday night at Gutterson Fieldhouse, with Cody Monds scoring the game-winning goal with 6:00 remaining. Jaxson Stauber saved 19 third-period shots.

NOTES – The Friars fell into an early hole as Vermont struck twice in the opening 4:03 on goals from Ray Vitolins and Philip Lagunov.
– The Catamounts extended the lead to 3-0 with 24 seconds remaining on Simon Jellus’ fourth goal of the season. – The momentum turned at 4:54 of the second period as Vitolins was given a five-minute major and game misconduct for boarding.
Providence broke through just 13 seconds into the major power play as Patrick Moynihan buried his third goal of the season to make it a 3-1 game. – Max Crozier found a seam from the point just 23 seconds later to make it a one-goal game with his fourth goal of the season.
– Moynihan tied things up at 6:32 of the period with this second of the game and fourth of the season. The Friars struck for three power-play goals in a span of 1:25. – Stauber stood tall during two Vermont power play chances in the third period, making 19 total saves in the final frame.
