Michigan Tech’s AI Frontier: A Glimpse into the Future of Artificial Intelligence

Michigan Tech Showcase Explores the Future of Artificial Intelligence

Michigan Technological University will host a showcase on artificial intelligence (AI) from October 4-6, featuring speakers, panels, workshops, and interactive events. The showcase, presented by Michigan Tech’s Institute of Computing and Cybersystems (ICC) and the College of Computing, aims to explore the impact of intuitive automated systems on various aspects of daily life, including health, industry, and computing.

With the increasing automation and rapid advancement of AI technologies, the goal of Showcase [AI] is to spread awareness about these cutting-edge developments. The organizers believe that broad dissemination is crucial for research to have a real impact on society. Additionally, the showcase provides an opportunity to highlight the growth of interdisciplinary research activities at Michigan Tech, including the addition of the mechatronics program which integrates AI into industry as part of the Industry 4.0 movement.

The event will kick off with the ICC Achievement awards and the College of Computing Honors Academy induction ceremony. These awards recognize individuals who have made significant contributions to impactful research that benefits Michigan Tech and society at large. AI-related projects by faculty and students will be showcased, and there will be interactive demonstrations and lab tours throughout the event.

One of the highlights of the showcase is a tour of the MTU Robotics Lab led by Professor Nathir Rawashdeh, an expert in applied computing. The lab demonstrates the state-of-the-art intersection of mechanics, computing, and electronics. Professor Rawashdeh emphasizes the importance of hands-on learning, as it equips students with practical skills that employers seek.

The showcase aims to provide an engaging and informative experience for attendees, highlighting the potential of AI and its impact on various industries. With no cost to attend and a focus on practical applications, this event is a must-visit for tech enthusiasts and those interested in the future of AI.
