In recognition of their efforts, Apple recently delivered a one-of-a-kind present to select Maps employees. Apple Maps pins, stickers, and pictures, as well as a handwritten message thanking workers for their contributions to the Maps app, are included in the gift box.
Over the last several years, Apple has been overhauling its Maps app, with the new version offering more thorough coverage of roads and buildings, faster and more accurate navigation, 3D renderings of prominent city sites, and more.
The card says, “Each and every one of you has your fingerprints on Springfield,” implying that “Springfield” is Apple’s internal codename for the redesigned Maps app. “Thank you for all of your unique contributions to this product and for continuing Apple’s tradition of exceptional work,” the card continues.
“The map has been rebuilt from the ground up, with better navigation, richer detail, more accurate information for places, and remarkable features that only Apple can deliver, like Look Around, Share ETA, and more,” said Apple’s services chief Eddy Cue, when the revamped Maps experienced rolled out to Australia. “Now it is easier than ever for users to find the places they love and get to where they’re going.”
