Fans of the college football landscape were thrilled with the return of EA Sports’ long-running football video game franchise. On Tuesday, EA Sports sparked an upheaval among fans who imagined playing with their favorite teams in a simulated manner.
The announcement brought predictions about who the cover athlete might be. He had a great idea for Alabama Crimson Tide star Mac Jones to celebrate the video game restart on his return.
Jones posted on Twitter that he felt that Alabama’s offensive line should be the athletes depicted on the cover. The Crimson Tide unit was instrumental in ensuring Jones had a great season and the team won the College Football Playoffs National Championship.
That season, the Crimson Tide averaged 48.5 points per game and scored a total of 84 touchdowns in 13 games. Jones threw for 4,500 yards and 41 touchdowns. He also limited his mistakes to just four interceptions.
The Alabama offensive line paved the way for Jones and the rest of the Crimson Tide playmakers. DeVonta Smith won the Heisman Memorial Trophy, and Najee Harris rumbled toward 1,466 yards and 26 touchdowns.

“As a quarterback, when you’re on a team with great players, you have to understand – you have to give them the ball,” Jones said earlier this season. “If you have bad players, you may have to play more games. That is not the case here. So don’t put too much pressure on yourself when you can deal the ball to the guys. “
Many outstanding players were represented in the offensive line of the Crimson Tide. The group included Alex Leatherwood, Deonte Brown, and Landon Dickerson. Both Leatherwood and Dickerson were named semi-finalists for the Outland Trophy that season.
“The offensive line did a really good job,” said Alabama head coach Nick Saban in December. “I know that sometimes I try to give them credit and then people say I don’t give credit to anyone on our team. But basically I think it all starts there. You do a really good job. “
The EA Sports franchise has been gone since the 2014 cycle. Various lawsuits have halted production over concerns about the name, image and likeness of athletes. The NCAA Board of Governors has sponsored rule changes to obtain compensation for third party endorsements related to and separate from athletics.
The question that remains is whether there will be NCAA players in the game or whether there will be newly invented players in a simulated format. Right now, Jones has a unique idea to honor his teammates this season.
