While many of us await the release of Pixel 4a, the first CAD-based renderings of Pixel 5 appeared online. The previews that could very well be an initial prototype of the phone reveal some interesting details about the phone and give us a glimpse of what the phone might look like at launch.
The views appear to have been leaked by David Kowalski (@ xleaks7), who shared the computer generated images without revealing a source. Although this questions the legitimacy of the leak, it is still quite interesting. The renderings show the phone equipped with a dual lens camera module on the back and also a fingerprint scanner on the back. This is quite interesting, as it means that the phone would probably be a premium flagship, but without a built-in fingerprint scanner.
In terms of design, the Pixel 5 is very similar to the Google Pixel 4 with a dual camera configuration, while the Pixel 5 on the front has a single selfie lens, which is placed on the screen by a hole. CAD renderers also reveal that the Pixel 5 will measure 144.6 × 70.4x8mm. This makes it a little smaller than the Pixel 4.
Interestingly, this is not the first time we have read about the Pixel 5. Previously, there were hints that the Pixel 5 may have a mid-range chipset, rather than a flagship. This is because a Google Opinion Rewards survey suggested that the Pixel 5 could sell $ 699 – $ 100 cheaper than the Pixel 4.
As for the other specs, the Google Pixel 5 screen is expected to be around 5.8 inches, while the Pixel 5 XL is 6.3 inches. The screens are expected to operate at a refresh rate of 90 Hz or up to 120 Hz, which will align it with the Samsung Galaxy S20 and the next Galaxy Note 20. However, an anonymous Slashleaks poster states that the Pixel 5 will with 90 Hz.
As for the other specs, according to a 9to5Google report, the Pixel 5 comes with the Snapdragon 765G, instead of a main chipset. There are also suggestions that the Pixel 5 obtains the slightly more powerful SoC Snapdragon 768G.
