News: JPMorgan’s Southeast Asia M&A chief joining Barclays: sources.

SINGAPORE (Reuters) – Ee Ching Tay, head of Southeast M&A at JPMorgan Chase & Co, has stepped down from the bank to lead investment banking in Southeast Asia at Barclays Plc, three sources told Reuters on Tuesday.

Singapore-based Tay, currently on garden vacation, has been with JPMorgan for a decade, previously serving on UBS’s M&A team in New York and other firms including Standard Chartered.

The sources declined to be identified as they were not authorized to speak to the media.

JPMorgan and Barclays declined to comment.

At Barclays, senior banker Sandeep Pahwa, vice chairman and head of client reporting in Asia Pacific, will become chairman while handing responsibility for Southeast Asia to Tay, one of the sources said.

Pahwa, a veteran banker who started as a technology investment banker at JPMorgan in New York in 1995, has been with Barclays for more than a decade.

Bloomberg News reported on Tay’s move on Tuesday.
