The leaked build is thought to contain all the content from the final game, but is missing some art assets. As to how the game is being played, you may remember last month we reported that it’s now possible to jailbreak a PS4 with a USB stick. So whoever got their hands on this build is most likely playing it on a jailbroken PS4 running firmware version 9.00.
Horizon Forbidden West is set to release on February 18, but photographs show someone other than playing a PS4 copy of the game. According to VGC, images of the game being played began to circulate on social media yesterday, though most have since been removed due to a copyright holder’s complaint. Such removals just serve to confirm that the images in question were authentic game images.
The leak is a blow for Sony as this is a huge release for the company next month on PS4 and PS5. How much of a blow depends on if the leak can be contained and information about the game being shared publicly curtailed. So far, it seems as though nothing has been divulged about the content beyond a few images. Let’s hope it stays that way.
