Have you changed addresses or phone numbers?

Tech Highlights:

  • You are prepared to build your own personal my Social Security account as soon as you have a working email address. To create an account, click the “Create an Account” button on the my Social Security page. Your new my Social Security account can be made with either Login.gov or ID.me, our two credential partners. For quick, safe, and confidential access to participating U.S. federal entities, the general public can use Login.gov. The U.S. government’s online identity proofing and authentication needs are satisfied by the single sign-on provider ID.me.

  • Making a personal My Social Security account at ssa.gov/myaccount is the simplest way to alter your address and phone number if you receive Social Security benefits. Once you’ve registered, you can edit your contact information wherever you choose. Along with Medicare members, this service is accessible to those who receive survivors’, disability, or retirement benefits. You can verify the address associated with your account to see if you get Supplemental Security Income.

Please note, if you already have a Login.gov or ID.me account, you can select the appropriate button to sign in with either one and access your personal my Social Security account. If you previously verified your identity with Login.gov or ID.me, you don’t need to do so again. If you don’t have a Login.gov or ID.me account, please select the “Create an Account” link to start the one-time registration process.

If you create a new Login.gov credential, we will still complete the identity verification part, so you will need to provide some personal information to us. You will also receive an activation code from us to complete the process.
