The vehicle was also recovered, further investigations found that the driver also had no insurance.

In less than an hour, police officers retrieved a stolen laptop and detained three men. Yesterday, shortly after 4 p.m., an incident occurred (November 17). Two men entered the ‘Istore’ in Harrogate’s James Street. A single MacBook Pro worth £1,899 was successfully removed by the suspects. They then walked out of the store without paying.

The suspects were interviewed at a nearby police station. Two men, one aged 18 and other aged 20, were charged with theft, the driver was also charged for driving without insurance. The third man was released with no charge.

A North Yorkshire Police spokesperson said: “This is a great result, the speedy work of our officers on the ground has resulted in us returning this high-value item back to the shop. “As we enter the Christmas period, we often see an increase in retail theft. I would urge all shop owners and members of the public who are out shopping to be vigilant and to alert police to any suspicious activity.”
