News: Google to invest over $7 billion in U.S. offices, data centers this year.
(Reuters) – Alphabet Inc.’s Google announced Thursday that it will invest over $ 7 billion in offices and data centers in the United States this year.
Google’s spending includes $ 1 billion in its home state of California. The move comes at a time when many companies are leaving Silicon Valley after the COVID-19 pandemic sparked a wider shift to remote working, causing companies to rethink the state’s higher operating costs and taxes.
The investment would create at least 10,000 new full-time jobs at Google, said CEO Sundar Pichai.
