At the moment, Google’s blogspot.in is inaccessible to many users in India. People who post on the platform face difficulties to access their blogs. Currently, many web pages in the Indian domain are not accessible. This is because Google has lost control of the blogspot.in URLs.
However, blogs are visible when users change the URLs for blogspot.com.
According to a Next Web report that conducted a WHOIS survey, Google is no longer the owner of the blogspot.in domain. However, it is not clear when Google lost control of the domain. Regular blog users with blogspot.in can use their own domains as now.
Blogspot.in is part of Google’s Blogger, formerly known as Blogspot that Google acquired in 2003. According to a Neowin report, country-specific domains are not different blog addresses, but just a detour based on the country of residence of the blogger. When a user searches in India, they receive a domain with username.blogspot.in and username.blogspot.com.
Country-specific URLs were created by Blogger in February 2013. This was done to remove content that violates local law. It can be easily removed with the specific domain and is therefore no longer available to local readers.
Blogs have become a trend and a profitable business. Many active bloggers use their profile as examples of work.
Google has not yet solved the problem. And, of course, there are millions of bloggers in India who may suffer because of the loss of Google ownership by the domain.
According to reports, Google’s ownership of the blogspot.in domain has expired, causing problems for bloggers.
