Video calling applications and services gained popularity and demand during the pandemic period, as staying at home has become a new standard. Although restrictions are being lifted slowly, people prefer to stay at home as a precaution. Many video call apps have updated their features as their demands have skyrocketed in recent months.
Google Duo launched 32 support for the Internet last month and said it would gradually roll out to mobile users. The company had already announced the update in May and is now available for Android users.
Google Duo has already launched support for 32 people for video calls on Android. Some users receive a pop-up message stating that they can add 32 members to a conversation when they open the Google Duo app on Android, while others may not be able to see the update yet. This is because the implementation is in the initial phase and is taking place gradually. It may be visible to some users a few days later.
Alternatively, Duo users can create a group to add members from whom they can confirm that the application has received the update. Duo users can confirm this by touching “Create a group”, as the top window says “Select up to 31 people”.
Users can also share a link with other contacts during a call, if they want to add contacts to the video call.
According to the Android Police, the change is active in the Duo versions of v92 and even v94. The report stated that it is probably a server-side switch; therefore, when the feature is updated, users will receive a pop-up or notification.
If Google Duo users want to start a video call over the Internet, they can access the website duo.google.com. After users log in or are already logged in, they can add contacts with a Create group button. After clicking the Create group button, users must click the Add people button to add contacts to the conversation.
In March, Google Duo increased the contact limit from 8 to 12 and added a number of new features to the service.
Google Duo added features like the AR effect for personalized messages. When Duo users are unable to make calls, they can easily send a personalized photo or video using Augmented Reality (AR) technology. Users can also take photos during conversations saved in Google Moments, if they have the capability. They can activate this by going to Settings – Call settings – Double moments.
