Facebook announces new feature for India allowing users to lock their profiles

Facebook will launch a new feature for India, which will allow users to block their profiles and prevent strangers from accessing their information and photos. This new feature was launched by Facebook to keep the platform safe, especially for women, and to ensure their privacy, Mashable reported.

If the user chooses to use this feature, a non-friend will not be able to enlarge, share and take profile photos or cover photos. They will also not be able to see photos and posts on the user’s timeline. Whenever a non-friend visits someone’s profile, a warning will appear saying that a particular user’s profile is blocked. According to Facebook, only five profile details are visible to those who are not friends.

This feature is currently only available for Android devices. (ANI)
