Erie County courts warn of phone fraud

You are being asked to call the Erie County Sheriff’s office if anyone calls trying to use this scam.

  • A phone fraud targeting region residents has been reported to the Erie County Courts. Scammers claim that because you did not report for jury service, Erie County Judge Joe Walsh has issued a “failure to appear” warrant in your name. According to county officials, the suspect poses as a law enforcement officer, giving a badge number and the name Sergeant McMahon.
