SYDNEY (Reuters) – Australia has been a “proxy battle” for the world, treasurer Josh Frydenberg said Tuesday following his announcement Facebook would restore news sites in the country after amendments to a legislative proposal.
Australia and the social media group have been in a stalemate for more than a week after the government enacted laws calling this into question Facebook and Alphabet Inc.’s Google dominance in the news content market.
