Details about Google’s second-generation Tensor chipset have appeared online, months before the anticipated arrival of the Pixel 7 and the Pixel 7 Pro. While Google has already revealed the Pixel 7 series, it has kept many details back for a broader announcement in the autumn. Subsequently, hands-on images of a Pixel 7 Pro prototype leaked, confirming a few details about the handset and its chipset.

Now, Telegram channel Google News claims to have dug into the boot logs of a bricked Pixel 7 Pro, potentially the one that leaked previously. Apparently, Google has equipped the Pixel 7 Pro with a Samsung S6E3HC4 display, up from the S6E3HC3 in the Pixel 6 Pro. It remains to be seen what hardware changes Samsung S6E3HC4 contains; the display retains the 3,120 x 1,440-pixel resolution on which the Pixel 6 Pro relies.
Additionally, the same logs suggest that the Google Tensor 2 (GS201) has the same core structure as its predecessor. Specifically, the second-generation SoC has ARM Cortex-A55 efficiency cores, rather the new Cortex-A510. Unfortunately, Google News has not been unable to confirm what other CPU cores feature in the Tensor 2’s 4+2+2 arrangement. Purportedly, Google will rely on TSMC’s 4 nm node though, mirroring the Snapdragon 8 Plus Gen 1. For some reason, the Pixel Watch will not launch with as advanced lithography, as we have discussed separately.
