News: Altice reaches $72 million settlement with New York over response to Tropical Storm Isaias.
NEW YORK (Reuters) – Altice reached a nearly $ 72 million settlement to clarify claims by New York State that the phone and cable television operator was inadequately preparing for and anticipating Tropical Storm Isaias last August responded when more than 400,000 customers lost service, Governor Andrew Cuomo said Thursday.
The deal is the largest for companies overseen by the State Public Service Commission for failing to follow the procedures related to an emergency response, said Cuomo.
Altice will spend $ 68.54 million on system upgrades, including storm responses, and provide $ 3.4 million in customer credit.
