After another delay, Forspoken by Square Enix won’t be available on Xbox until 2025

• And since Square Enix has a 2-year timed exclusivity deal with Sony for the game, Forspoken will launch on Xbox at the earliest in January 2025. Additionally, Forspoken was supposed to be the first game to utilise Windows 11’s DirectStorage technology. We’ll have to wait and see if the most recent delay will impact DirectStorage on Windows 11.

• You may recall that earlier this month, we mentioned that the planned Square Enix action-RPG Forspoken had been postponed “as a result of ongoing discussions with important partners.” We now understand exactly what this means. It indicated that Sony thought the earlier October 11 release date for Forspoken would have conflicted with the November release for God of War: Ragnarok. This is why Forspoken, despite the game’s close to completion, will not be released until January 2023.
