As we had already heard that the most anticipated smartphone of the year, the iPhone 7 would be landing in shops on the week of September 12. But now, the famous tipster Evan Blass (@evleaks) has reported that the pre-orders of the iPhone 7 will start on Friday September 9 and the smartphone will go on sale from Friday September 16 as reported earlier by the same tipster.
Confirmed: Pre-orders start on the 9th. You can extrapolate the launch event date from there. https://t.co/gwoPzIM1dI— Evan Blass (@evleaks) July 28, 2016
That still doesn’t tell us when the iPhone 7 will actually be announced. Pre-orders may not open the same day as the announcement, but assuming @evleaks is right it seems very likely that it will happen during that week, which starts on September 5.
This year’s iPhone models are not expected to feature significant design changes aside from the loss of the headphone jack. Instead, Apple is said to be introducing major new features for the 10th anniversary iPhone 8. The 4.7-inch iPhone 7 is expected to get an improved camera and optimal image stabilization while the 5.5-inch iPhone 7 Plus may gain a dual-lens camera system and 3 GB RAM.
Other rumored features for the iPhone 7 and 7 Plus include a faster TSMC-made A10 processor, re-positioned antenna bands, faster LTE and Wi-Fi, a slightly larger battery, and a minimum 32 GB and a new 256 GB of base storage variant. Apple is also expected to offer the “iPhone 7” in a “much darker color” than the current space gray option found on the iPhone 6s series. This darker shade of iPhone will be close to black, though not quite black.
