How to use the App Store in iOS 11

The App Store underwent its biggest redesign ever seen on iOS 11, specializing in authentic content material and simplifying the location and download of new applications and games. It’s all new – even the App Store badge had a facelift.

Although it is a welcome change (mainly for iOS avid gamers), there are some variations on how the App Store works on iOS 11. Don’t be afraid, this is where we clarify what’s new and how to get the App Store you can use on iOS 11.

Discover new content material on the iOS 11 App Store

But what makes redesigning so good? First, there may be the new Today tab. In the first App Store, the Today tab features authentic content material written by Apple editors, from short stories by independent developers to tutorials that help you get the most out of your apps.

In addition, it is the place where Apple presents new releases of games and applications and different materials of exclusive content, along with interviews with movie stars about their favorite apps and more.

The Today tab is not the only new feature; Games and apps now have separate tabs, making it easy to discover games while you need to have a game and apps session while looking for something new.

The guides provide suggestions and data on the newly released content material, along with carefully chosen graphics and collections, created by Apple editors. The content material is constantly updated and offers a gateway to the chances that you might not have discovered it on iOS 10!

After discovering an app or game that needs to be downloaded, you will be able to see a redesigned app product web page. The new product pages emphasize content and provide up to 3 movies and 5 screenshots per item, plus ratings, ratings and even easy-to-see costs, if any.

Makes it much easier to find highly rated (and even critically acclaimed) apps and games on the App Store.

Oh, and in-app purchases are really searchable on the App Store and also appear on the app’s product pages, making it easy to discover game updates and unlock apps.

It’s important to note that 32-bit apps now don’t work on iOS 11 – that’s how to find out which apps don’t work on iOS 11.

Search and download apps

In addition to discovering new content material on the Today, Games and Apps tab, you can use search to find an app, developer, or in-app purchase in the App Store. It is basically the same as ever, although, like the rest of the App Store, it has been restored:

  1. Open the App Store on your iPhone or iPad.
  2. Touch the Search tab in the appropriate rear corner of the screen (the magnifying glass icon).
  3. Tap the search discipline, enter your search and then tap the search button.
  4. You will find a list of results: find the game or application you are looking for.
  5. You can activate the icon to open the app’s product to get more data or activate the “Get” button (or the value, if paid) to download it to your iPhone or iPad.

If you are new to iOS 11, you may additionally need to know how to use Files for iPad.

Update apps

While the issues may look a little bit different on the Updates tab in iOS 11, they basically work the same as before. For those new to the iOS world, this is how apps are replaced:

  1. Open the App Store on your iPhone or iPad.
  2. Touch the Updates tab to see the list of accessible updates for applications and games.
  3. Tap the Update button, subsequent to specific applications, to prioritize updates or tap Update all to install all pending updates.

Update applications mechanically

While it is simple enough to install application and game updates on the iOS 11 App Store, Apple also offers the possibility to mechanically download and install updates as they become available.

This eliminates the need to periodically check the Updates tab, keeping the application library up to date.

  1. Open the Settings app on your iPhone or iPad.
  2. Touch the iTunes & App Store tab.
  3. Under the heading “Automatic downloads”, activate the Updates change.

It is so easy!

Disable updates over a mobile data connection

Sometimes, you end up buying the App Store while you’re on the go, and even without thinking about it, touch the download button for a new app or game. Although it is of high quality for these devices with an unlimited amount of mobile data, it is not the case for many UK customers and may carry some of the monthly data allowances.

Apple limits the download of mobile data to 100 MB, however, for those with only 1 GB of data, that is, 10% of the monthly fee. While it is extremely annoying when this occurs, there is a way to ensure that it does not happen in the future: disable app and game updates over a mobile data connection.

  1. Open the Settings app on your iPhone or iPad (cell phone).
  2. Touch the iTunes & App Store tab.
  3. Touch Use mobile data to disable the change.

However, you can browse the App Store over a mobile connection; however, you cannot install new applications or updates.
