How to use a VPN on an iPhone or iPad

If you need to maximize security and privacy while viewing the web on your iPhone or sign-in companies restricted to certain countries on your iPad, you can do so through a VPN. In this article, we’ll show you how to set up and use a VPN on your iPhone or iPad.

Why use a VPN on an iPhone?

There are several causes for using a VPN, some of them certainly more than others:

  • Do you need to make sure that your appearance is not public and safe? Use a VPN. A VPN is a service that you simply join before accessing the Web. It encrypts your files, and because you can access the Web through a server, you and your machine are generally not seen on the Web.
  • Do you need to defend your files as opposed to legal file security guidelines from relaxed or curious governments? A VPN can help.
  • If your own province censors certain components of the Web, a VPN can work around those restrictions.
  • If you need to access your own home or business community remotely, you can configure your individual VPN. We have this article on how to access your Mac remotely.
  • Do you need to work around location-based restrictions on businesses and websites? A VPN is the answer.

This final level may be the largest use of VPNs in the UK and the USA. When connecting via a server in another country, you must be in a position to use companies that are generally not outside the country. This would allow entry, for example, into the USA of Netflix in the UK or BBC iPlayer in the USA.

Although this article explains how to use a VPN on an iPhone or iPad, we still have an article explaining how to set up a VPN on a Mac and an article on how to set up a VPN on an Apple TV.

In this article, we use NordVPN as a result, it is our main decision at the moment, however, there is a lot to choose from. We also defend ExpressVPN, PureVPN, CyberGhost and Surfshark. For more information, see our article on VPNs for iPhone.

How to use a VPN on your iPhone to access the Web anonymously

Although we used NordVPN for this tutorial, however, the different VPNs work in a related method.

  1. Create a NordVPN account on here (or through 1 other VPN service).
  2. Download the NordVPN app on your iPhone or iPad. (The app is called NordVPN: VPN Fast & Secure and has a mountain-like icon).
  3. Open the application and click on the individual icon on the left.
  4. Sign in together with your account.
  5. Tap Quick Connect, you may be asked to give permission to join the VPN. Click I have to approve it.
  6. You see a message that NordVPN wants to add VPN settings and that “All network activity on this iPhone can be filtered or monitored when using VPN”. This is a usual message asking for permission to route your exercise on the Internet through an encrypted VPN tunnel. You can click Allow.

  7. Assuming you can have Touch ID or Face ID, you may be asked to use it to add VPN settings. If that fails, you can enter your password. This course allows NordVPN to configure a VPN configuration on your phone – you can see this in Settings> General.
  8. You will now notice a map with completely different servers around the world. The server you are using, the 1 that is operating, is indicated by an inexperienced icon.

  9. As long as you are linked to that server, your appearance will be completely unnamed.

How to use a VPN on your iPhone to access the web from another country

If you need to access the Internet as for those who have been in another country, this is potential (although this may increasingly violate the phrases of companies that you access through VPN, proceed with your individual danger).

  1. Choose to view the map or checklist – you can transform the country you need to forward your connection to.
  2. For example, swipe the map until you can see the USA and tap the server icon in the middle of that country.

  3. You will see a dialog box with the chosen country title, a change on / off icon and the option to select a server. Just tap the skill button to activate that server.
  4. Wait while it connects, it only takes a few seconds.
  5. While browsing the web, it must appear that you are in the country where the server is located. This means that you can join companies that will only be out there in that country (which, as it is known above, may also be below the phrases of those companies).
  6. As long as you are connected to a VPN, you can see a VPN icon at the top of the screen – after the mobile community and the Wi-Fi connectivity icons.

The final instance must allow you to watch UK American Netflix or other material with geographically restricted content. We have a more detailed guide that explains how to watch US Netflix in the UK on your iPad, iPhone or Mac.

How to disable a VPN on an iPhone

If you simply need to stop using the VPN, you will need to follow a simple course. In the case of NordVPN, observe these steps:

  1. Open the NordVPN application.
  2. Click Disconnect.
  3. You will see a message that is not linked and the VPN icon will disappear from the menu.

You can disconnect from the VPN this way:

  1. Go to Settings> General.
  2. Scroll down to VPN.
  3. Click on the subsequent Status change to disconnect.

  4. Click the icon (i) subsequent to the VPN.
  5. Click on the subsequent change to Connect on Demand to interrupt the VPN connection.

Is it safe to use a VPN?

Accessing the Internet on your iPhone through a VPN is more secure than accessing it without a VPN under the necessary circumstances.

For example, for those who enter the Internet through a public community, your files are encrypted by accessing through a VPN, defending you from potential hackers who could also be trying to steal your files.

The only question is how much can you trust the VPN used to not acquire files about you. Probably, for those who pay to use the VPN, their files are safe. If you use a free VPN, there are more causes to try to monetize you. In addition, there are some VPN scams going on, so pay attention to them. Our recommendation is to read our article on one of the best VPNs when looking at the ones we list here.
