How to set up a contact group on iPhone & iPad

To remove a title from a group, you must be within the group, with the group title highlighted and the contact title to be deleted quickly. Then click on the gear and choose Remove. This only removes the group’s title (without pop-up warning, by the way), rather than completely eradicating it from your contacts.

Faster methods for adding contacts

You can add multiple contacts directly to speed up the method.

Use the contact group

You can exclude recipients individually if you want to send an email to most members of a group.

After a style, it also works for messages. Open a new message and sort the group title in the To subject, then choose the requested group. The downside is that it then searches for all the iMessage phone numbers and addresses listed for contacts, with the consequence that you receive three times as many recipients as you want.
