Asus has unveiled two new laptops in India. The laptops are named as Asus A540 and Asus R558U respectively. Asus claims that the R558 is the first mainstream notebook in India to feature a next-gen USB type-C port, and also the first to have a Nvidia GT930MX GPU. The A540 weighs less than 2 kg and is claimed to be the first laptop to sport a USB Type-C in the segment. Both the laptops are priced at Rs 20,990 and Rs 43,990 respectively.
Asus R558UR is an upgraded version of its R88UF premium notebook. It features a 15.6-inch Full HD LED back-lit display and is powered by an Intel Core i5 processor, clubbed with 4 GB DDR4 RAM and NVIDIA GeForce 930MX GPU.
Available in brown color, the laptop runs DOS and has multiple connectivity options like Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, USB Type-C, HDMI, and VGA. Weighing around 2 kg, the Asus R558UR sports a full-size keyboard with number pad. It also comes with Asus Smart Gesture and Asus Splendid software applications.
As for the Asus A540, the free DOS running notebook sports a 15.6-inch display with a lower resolution of 1366 * 768 pixels. Under-the-hood, it packs an Intel Core i3 processor clubbed with 4 GB DDR3 RAM. The laptop also comes with Intel HD Graphics 4400.
Available in black and silver, Asus A540 supports the same connectivity features as the Asus R88UF.
